Our current vacancies are:

Housing Solicitor/Legal Executive

We are looking for a confident housing solicitor with good CPR skills who is interested in specialising in Equality Act claims. Ideally you will have housing law and some JR experience and can manage a litigated caseload including some complex cases. if you are a  Solicitor or Legal Executive (2 years PQE+) looking to broaden your experience and work with a friendly and engaged team you are actively encouraged to apply. You will also assist the Legal Director with supervision duties.

Employment Solicitor/Legal Executive
We are looking for a confident employment law solicitor/legal executive who is interested in specialising in Equality Act claims. You will have gained at least 3 years’ experience. In this varied role, you will be working on claimant matters on a range of contentious employment matters, including general advisory matters and tribunal representation. Ideally you will also have experience of handling discrimination claims.  You will carry your own varied caseload of employment law matters and offer innovative and expert advice to an extensive client base.

The Solicitor and Office Manager candidates
Applicants will need to be strong communicators, natural influencers and have the skills to engage, coach and develop a talented team in a clear, supportive, and effective way. You will be extremely well organized with high level problem-solving skills with the ability to manage your time effectively and pay attention to detail. Driven to contribute to the centre’s continued success, focussed on excellent cost management and client care are a must. You will be committed to working effectively within an interdependent team building, success by gaining the co-operations of others. You will have a positive outlook and can-do attitude.

Salary: depending on post qualification experience
Working hours: 35 per week over a 4-day working week
Benefits: 28 days annual leave including bank holidays
Location:  Liverpool City Centre (remote working considered)
Contract length: Permanent

Volunteer Vacancies

Volunteer – General
Volunteers support various projects here and play a huge part in changing the lives of members of the community.

We recognise the importance of volunteering and how each volunteer brings something uniquely valuable to the team, be it specialised knowledge from their studies and employment, a language, or life experience. Many of our volunteers have gone onto find paid employment within our organisation or other prestigious organisations.

We have various Administration roles to support the smooth running us of service. These roles may suit you if you are interested in developing a career in the legal sector.

Volunteer – pro bono

Volunteer – Legal advisors
We recruit law students into the legal team to work with the legal advisors and solicitors to provide advice to telephone or face to face advice clients and support them in running cases. This is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable legal experience in a busy law centre. Vacancies on the Board of Trustees
We have a long and proud history of providing legal advice and representation to those who would otherwise be denied access to justice.

Trustee leadership and good governance is at the heart of the Law Centre. Our Board members play a vital role leading the organisation and ensuring we deliver our charitable objectives.

We are currently looking for a number of  new Trustees and would particularly welcome applications from those with experience as one of the following:
  • Employment or discrimination Solicitor
  • A Solicitor (legal aid)
  • As an advice centre staff member or volunteer, or
  • Fundraising
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Other relevant advice sector experience.

We are keen to ensure a diverse board, with a broad representation of ages, background, perspective, disability, gender and ethnicity.

Trustees meet as a board at least 4 times a year. It is not necessary to have previous board/trustee experience as an induction and support will be provided.
